Edamus hosted a splendid evening for a 30 pax canadian tour group visiting SA. They were treated to a taste of South African through a 5 course meal. The meal was perfectly curated by Jolandi and her team.
The guest were met with canapés and drinks on arrival that consisted of;
- Polenta squares topped with biltong and caramelised onions
- Boerewors and mieliepap skewers topped with tomato relish
- Raw vegetable sticks with hummus(vegan canapé)
The starter was a real treat, a lekker Durban bunnychow, if you ever set foot in Durban, remember to order one of these;
- Home made bun hollowed out and filled with a spicy tikka chicken masala and topped with yogurt, fresh granadilla pulp and dhanja chutney.
Bobotie is an all time South African favourite, originating from the Cape Malayans, we served bobotie for mains in small traditional African pots, paired with yellow rice, rustic root vegetables topped with an orange and poppy seed vinaigrette and the most delicious pumkin fritters.
For the men we added nice thick slices of beef fillet with a choice of creamy pepper or garlic and red wine sauce.
Dessert was the cherry on top with delicious traditional South African malva pudding topped with home made custard and pecan nuts. This was served with a trio of melon balls, watermelon granita and a lemon infused syrup.
The meal was finished off with a beautiful platter of South african cheeses and rusks.
